PRESS RELEASE- Downing District Office Hosts Local Artist's Exhibit: Leo Mazzeo's art on display during the month of June June 11, 2007
Pittsfield-State Senator Benjamin B. Downing(D-Pittsfield) announces that the talent of local artist Leo Mazzeo is on display at his district office located on 20 Bank Row, Suite 202, Pittsfield.The exhibit is free and open to the public during district office hours (Monday – Friday, ).
A native to the Berkshires and Pittsfield resident, Leo expresses his talent with paint and brush.Through the evolution of his artwork, he has worked with watercolors, pastels and oil paints.In a short period of time, he explored many subject matters and is currently working on an extensive series of oversized still life paintings.Leo has chosen a collection of his oil paintings to showcase for Senator Downing’s Local Art Exhibition program. This exhibit is a comprehensive collection of all Leo’s still life completed to date and includes new work painted loosely on large surfaces as well as older works.
“Leo’s work is a fine example of the amazing pool of artistic talent in western Massachusetts.I am pleased to offer a place were his work, and the work of other local talents, may be viewed,” said Downing.
A winner of several awards, Leo is also a member of the Housatonic Valley Art League, Sheffield, MA; a member of the Columbia County Council on the Arts, Hudson, NY; and an elected member of the Kent Art Association, Kent, CT.
