IN THE NEWS: Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Ltd. Awarded Workforce Training Fund Grant from Patrick-Murray Administration
January 07, 2013

Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Ltd., manufacturer of jane iredale – THE SKIN CARE MAKEUP, is pleased to announce the award of a grant as part of the Commonwealth’s Workforce Training Fund. Iredale Mineral Cosmetics is one of 87 Massachusetts companies that will receive a portion of the $6.8 million in funds which support up to two years of training, will create 682 new jobs and train over 6,300 workers throughout the state.

Iredale Mineral Cosmetics will use the grant funds to assist in the training and skills development of all its home office personnel in the use of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software across the organization. In 2012, Iredale Mineral Cosmetics contracted with a Massachusetts based software consultant and vendor (Green Beacon Solutions) to develop and install an upgraded system to support its continuing growth in a more complex business environment.

“This grant enables us to move forward with best in class technology and process solutions that are integral for our continued growth,” said Abigail Burke, Director of Information Systems and Process Planning at Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. “In today’s competitive marketplace a well trained and technically savvy workforce is critical  to providing the best possible service to our consumers and partners and achieving success as an organization. We have made a significant investment in our information systems to provide the business with enhanced capabilities and scalability for the future; this grant was a key component in ensuring that our employees can fully leverage these new and improved systems.”

The recipient companies of the Grant are located in 66 cities and towns across the Commonwealth and training will be provided to employees in a range of sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, engineering and hospitality.

"We are focused on addressing the skills gap issue in the Commonwealth so that workers can compete in today’s ever-changing jobs market,” said Governor Deval Patrick. "The Workforce Training Fund focuses on the needs of both our businesses and workers, as Massachusetts continues to lead the nation in economic recovery.”

“Job creation is everyone’s priority on Beacon Hill,” noted State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D-Pittsfield).  “This round of Workforce Training Fund Grants will support almost 700 new jobs and train thousands of workers throughout the Commonwealth, while locally, the benefits of this grant will be evident in the economic growth of our region.  I am pleased congratulate Iredale Mineral Cosmetics on this award and its ongoing commitment to employee training.”

"I was thrilled when I heard that Iredale Mineral Cosmetics was awarded the Workforce Training Fund Grant,” said State Representative William Smitty Pignatelli D-Lenox. “Investments like this will allow this global company based here in the Berkshires to continue to grow and prosper!"

“We are committed to providing training to new and incumbent workers so that businesses will have the skilled workforce they need to thrive in the Massachusetts economy and employees develop the skill sets and expertise that leads to sustainable jobs,” said Joanne F. Goldstein, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development. “We continue to partner with Massachusetts employers so they can access the Workforce Training Fund which provides them with the resources to run training programs that ensure the viability and growth of businesses in the Commonwealth and a workforce that is top notch.”
