Boston – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) today lauded eight high schools in Berkshire County for implementing YourPlanForCollege.org, the Commonwealth’s new and innovative one-stop shop for college and career planning.
“YourPlanForCollege is a tremendous asset for students, parents and educators in Berkshire County,” said Downing. “It puts all the resources students need to succeed in college, and beyond, right at their fingertips.” Downing previously served as Acting Chairman of the Joint Committee on Higher Education; he continues to serve on the legislative panel.
Locally, 5,197 students at Charles H. McCann Technical, Drury, Hoosac Valley, Monument Mountain Regional, Mount Everett Regional, Pittsfield, Taconic and Wahconah Regional High Schools are actively participating in YourPlanForCollege. This figure equals 76% of high school students in Berkshire County.
YourPlanForCollege centralizes the key data points of a student’s educational career, including course history, grades, extracurricular activities, test scores, and graduation requirements. It also alerts students to key deadlines for college application, financing and enrollment milestones. The portal also provides students with robust, interactive resources to help make informed decisions on higher education and career opportunities that are continually evolving within Massachusetts’ diverse innovation economy.
Statewide, 130 schools, representing more than 125,000 Massachusetts high school students, have adopted YourPlanForCollege. The Commonwealth has made YourPlanForCollege an integral part of its educational access and excellence agenda and is committed to making it the state’s universal, primary college and career planning tool.
YourPlanForCollege is an initiative of the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA), in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. Created in 2010 with funding from federal College Access Challenge Grants, YourPlanForCollege is managed by MEFA and powered by ConnectEDU technologies.
