State board seeking applications for the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women

Boston – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) announces today that the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) is now seeking applications for those willing to serve as commissioner on the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women (BCCSW). 
 
Established through legislative action in 2004, the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women is comprised of nine members and exists to advance women toward full equality and to promote opportunities for all women. The commission draws on the experience of individuals from diverse backgrounds throughout Berkshire County, and reports its findings annually regarding issues facing women to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. In addition, the BCCSW promotes collaboration among organizations serving women in Berkshire County and offers recommendations to address their needs.
 
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, the Berkshire County Commission’s appointing authority, is currently accepting applications to fill one open position. The MCSW welcomes applications from individuals with experience in issues pertaining to women and a commitment to advancing the work and mission of the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women. 
 
In order to apply for a position as a commissioner, the applicant must be a resident of Berkshire County.  Application forms are available online at http://www.mass.gov/women/BCCSW%20Application.pdf; you may also request an application by contacting the office of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women via email mcsw@state.mass.us or by calling 617-626-6520.
