Downing Hosts Senate President Murray in Pittsfield this Week
November 28, 2011

Boston – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) is pleased to announce that for the third time in his 5 year tenure he will host Senate President Therese Murray (D- Plymouth) in his Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin District. 
President Murray will be visiting Berkshire County this Tuesday and Wednesday, touring a local human services agency, visiting a major employer and keynoting the Berkshire Chamber’s Eggs & Issues event.
Downing previously hosted President Murray locally in 2007 and 2009.

What:                    Berkshire County Kids' Place is a fully accredited Children's Advocacy Center CAC's provide a safe homelike atmosphere where child abuse victims and their non-offending family members can receive the services necessary to heal from the trauma of abuse.  Kids' Place gives children who have experienced violence in their lives, either as victims of abuse or witnesses to domestic violence, a safe place to tell their stories and get help.  Kids’ Place works with the Berkshire District Attorney’s SAIN Team to provide a safe place for children who may be victims of sexual abuse to be interviewed by professionals.

Event #2:  Berkshire Chamber Eggs & Issues -- Keynote Address

What:                    In 2008, the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce started a new breakfast series, entitled “Eggs & Issues.”  This is a series of small breakfast meetings (50 people max) offering the business community the chance to get together and hear about the opportunities and issues that are facing their particular community.  The program will allow Murray and Downing to speak informally for about 20-25 minutes each, followed by a question and answer period. 
This is a Berkshire Chamber event.  The cost is $10 for Berkshire Chamber members and $15 for non-members. It includes a light breakfast. Registration: (413) 499-4000, ext. 10;;

What:                    This event will provide an overview of General Dynamics’ business, a tour of the manufacturing facility, and systems integration laboratories where they perform a variety of testing on our Littoral Combat ship and submarine programs.  GD is a major employer in Pittsfield, currently with 1,200 employees on site.
