Boston – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) announces today that he will host an Online Town Hall Forum via the website on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.
Downing’s Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin District, comprised of 48 western Massachusetts communities, is the largest in the Massachusetts Senate. Downing, who meets in person with constituents on a daily basis across western Massachusetts and at the State House, is seeking innovative ways to connect with those who may not be able to physically join him. The Senator’s dynamic use of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter served as a natural precursor to launching a web forum to link up with his constituency.
Logging on to the Online Town Hall Forum is free, at can submit questions and comments prior to and during the forum using the Senator’s Facebook page and Twitter via #BBDtownhall; the resulting conversation will be facilitated by a guest host.
Prior to 6:00pm on October 17th, questions can also be emailed to the Senator through the “Contact” page of his website, These suggestions should be clearly identified as questions for the Online Town Hall Forum. Due to time restraints, every submitted question may not be addressed.
