Boston – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) announced today that the 67th Citizens' Legislative Seminar (CLS) will be held this fall on Tuesday, October 18th and Wednesday, October 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Massachusetts State House.
“The Citizens’ Legislative Seminar allows participants to hear legislators explain their role in state government and ask questions about the legislative process,” said Downing. “It is a valuable learning tool for our citizens and constituents and a great opportunity for residents to get an in-depth perspective of state government.”
The CLS culminates with a simulated legislative hearing and Senate session where participants are invited to use what they have learned and participate as “Senators” in the Senate Chamber in order to have a first-hand experience of the legislative process.
CLS attendees must be nominated by their state Senator. All residents of the Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin District interested in attending this year’s event are invited to contact the Senator’s Chief of Staff, Bethann Steiner, at (617) 722-1625 by Friday, September 9th. A resume will be requested from each applicant. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis; candidates must be able to attend both days of the program.
