PRESS RELEASE- Downing Announces Grant Opportunity for Local Businesses: Grants for Reducing Toxic Chemical Use Available September 28, 2007
Pittsfield-State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D-Pittsfield) announces that the Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is now accepting grant applications from Massachusetts companies interested in hosting a “Cleaner Technology Demonstration.” Massachusetts companies willing to showcase their innovations in energy conservation and efficiency are encouraged to apply.
The intent of TURI’s Demonstration Site Program is to highlight and share innovative and successful solutions to reducing toxic chemical use while improving the environmental and economic performance of Massachusetts companies.
In 2008 the TURI Demonstration Site Program will focus on energy conservation and efficiency and will showcase how leading Massachusetts companies are proactively addressing this issue.TURI expects to fund at least one demonstration site.
The demonstration events will be scheduled for early spring 2008.Brief page proposals are due by October 26, 2007 and the grant award will be announced in November 2007.A description of the program and application process is available on line at www.turi.org.
